Fire Fighter I Academy, 02

Scope/Overview:

Provides basic knowledge and skills to successfully complete Fire Fighter I certification exam.

Special Features:

Extremely challenging "hands-on" course with little time devoted to classroom lecture. For successful completion of academic material a pre-course reading assignment and open book test is required. This is OFST's standard fire academy offering that takes place on a well-equpped, fixed training facility--currently offered at either the Edmond F.D. Training Center, or FST Professional Skills Center, Stillwater.

Course Length:

136 hours

Prerequisite(s):

  • Basic first aid training or higher
  • Be Physically Fit
  • CPR Training
  • Hazardous Materials Awareness Level

Accredited Certification Level:

Successful course completion qualifies student to take Fire Fighter I certification exam.

Standards Met:

NFPA 1001, Fire Fighter I, 2002 edition

Student Equipment:

Full PPE and SCBA (must be NFPA compliant) Spare air cylinder (current hydrostatic test) Hearing and eye protection. Each Student needs their own Essential of Fire Fighting manual, 5th edition. CD Study Guide will be issued upon registsration. There will be an additional $55.00 charge for textbook and study guide.
