Rope Rescue Operations Part 1

Scope/Overview:

Introduces basic individual skills and rescue team operations. The 16-hour program considers the rope rescue environment along with rope rescue equipment selection and use, knots, single point anchors, fixed rope systems, construction and operation of belay systems, rappelling, and system safety checks.

Prerequisite(s):

  • Able to work from heights above 20 feet
  • Physically fit

Accredited Certification Level:

IFSAC accreditation pending.

Standards Met:

NFPA 1006, Standard for Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications, Chapters 5 & 6, 2003 edition. NFPA 1670, Standard for Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents, Chapters 4 & 6, 2004 edition.

Student Equipment:

NFPA compliant protective helmet, boots and gloves (rescue PPE preferred).
