Industrial Rope Rescue Basics

Scope/Overview:

Industry responders need to know a few rope basics in order to fully participate in more advanced technical rescue training. Disciplines such as confined space, trench and high angle rescue demand proficiency in such areas as rescuer safety, hazard analysis, knot tying and rigging, anchoring systems, edge protection, belay systems, and basic commands. Rescuers must also be familiar with rope characteristics, be proficient in the use, care and maintenance of rope rescue equipment, and comfortable with PPE donning and doffing. OSU's Industrial Rope Rescue Basics introduces these essentials to beginners, thereby providing a proper foundation for advanced technical rescue training. This is requisite training for most rescue courses in this catalog.

Course Length:

8-16 hours depending on training objectives.

Prerequisite(s):

Participants must be physically capable.
